If I find a good used machine as described above, can I simply swap all the hard drives and be up and running that quickly?.Of course, I'd probably add some memory but that's about it. (It's very disappointing that Apple went to the smaller machine with the later generations.) Apparently, the Mid 2012 came with a video card that has a dual link DVI port so I'm assuming I'd have no problem hooking up my 30" Cinema display to it. I have 4 2TB enterprise class drives (one as the main drive, one for Sonos, two mirrored for automatic backups with CCC) in my current machine and therefore the only Mac Pro that I'd be interested in is the last 1st gen machine, the Mid 2012 with the Westmere architecture. What I'd prefer to do is buy a newer Mac Pro and simply pull the hard drives from my early 2008 machine, put them in the new machine, and be up and running. I know there is supposed to be a way to get 10.14 to install with a patcher, but I don't like the idea as if something goes wrong, I'm really hosed. However, it won't be long before Sonos stops supporting OS 10.11(El Capitan) and I'll have to find a solution.
